GRANDMASTER PROFESSOR DON JACOB

9th Degree Black Belt · Founder, Don Jitsu Ryu System · Est. 1970

Grandmaster Professor Don Jacob is the founder and creator of the Purple Dragon Don Jitsu Ryu System—an institution established in 1970. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, he has studied martial arts for over five decades and holds a 9th Degree Black Belt with the title of Hanshi.

Professor Jacob is one of the most sought-after martial arts professionals in the world today. Having conducted extensive research on martial arts history and technique, he is considered one of its most knowledgeable historians. He has taught and demonstrated with great success in countries including England, Canada, the United States, Japan, Australia, Africa, Nepal, India, China, and throughout the Caribbean.

Those who have trained with him consider Grandmaster Professor Don Jacob to be the most dynamic and complete martial artist they have had the honor of experiencing. His system now operates in over 50 locations worldwide, transforming youth and adults into strong, positive individuals.

6th Degree Black Belt · 25+ Years in Don Jitsu Ryu

A student of Grandmaster Professor Don Jacob, Shihan Hayden works to educate, motivate, and inspire people through martial arts. He teaches Don Jitsu Ryu to students ages 4 and up, helping them unlock their potential through discipline and consistency.

After being inducted into the Caribbean Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2010, Shihan Hayden migrated to the United States to pursue his Master’s degree. He sincerely believes that everyone has the ability to achieve success, and his mission is to help individuals of all ages realize their greatness.

SHIHAN PAUL JOHN
6th Degree Black Belt · 45+ Years in Don Jitsu Ryu

Shihan Paul John brings dedication and passion to every class at Purple Dragon ATL. As an assistant instructor, he supports Shihan Hayden in delivering authentic Don Jitsu Ryu instruction to students of all ages and skill levels.

His commitment to the martial arts lifestyle and student development makes him an invaluable part of the Purple Dragon ATL team. Shihan Paul John embodies the values of discipline, respect, and continuous improvement that define our Dojo.
